Update: Dang wins WSOP Women’s Event
Event 51 attracted 936 players
A 29-year-old poker pro from Denver, Yen Dang, won the Event 51 – $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Ladies Championship at the World Series of Poker entered by 936 players.
A relatively unknown poker pro, who only once took part in WSOP back in 2005, surpassed strong competition at the final table including Debbie Pechac, Janet Howard, Angela Prada-Moed, Candida Ross-Powers, Rae Rocco, Lesley Amos, Freda Lawrence and Anna Lundholm.
Janet Howard took the third-place prize and left the final table to open the floor for Dang and Debbie Pechac for the decisive heads up game.
Holding the chip lead since level 22, Dang entered the heads up at level 24 with blinds at 12,000-24,000 with a 4,000 ante. She kept her lead and sent her final opponent home with a second placing check for $105,586.
The well-deserved main prize of $170,587 and first WSOP bracelet for Dang attracted a lot of attention and more news about this lady are expected soon.
Among the well-known names that did not make the final table were Erica Schoenberg, J.J. Liu, Leo Margets and Marsha Wolak.
